These activities were developed by Chicago Metropolis 2020 with
an advisory team of educators from the Chicago region. Chicago Metropolis
2020 is a nonprofit organization created by The Commercial Club
of Chicago in 1999 to advocate for better regional planning and
smart investments to promote the region's long term health. A century
ago, The Commercial Club sponsored Daniel Burnham's Plan of Chicago
and the Wacker Manual, which informed a generation of school children
about the benefits of regional planning and action. This project
continues the tradition of encouraging students to understand, analyze
and act to shape the future of the Chicago region.
